Engaged in New York City

So I have debated awhile whether or not I would blog about my engagement this past Thanksgiving.  I normally do not speak of my personal life however I am excited to share this amazing journey I am currently on & have images to share.  This past Thanksgiving my boyfriend (love of my life) and I took all 4 children (ages 14,11,11,7) to New York City for a family vacation.  The kids had never been and were soooo excited to see the city and of course we were excited to share such a magical place with them.

Eric had told his two children ahead of time that he was going to ask me to marry him on top of the Empire State Building.  He wanted to make sure they were part of this life changing event that was going to happen in their lives.    We arrived at the Empire State Building on the very last day of our trip.  I still can't believe they kept it a secret and never spoke a word to my two girls and I.  What a hard secret to keep!

It was so cold I can't even begin to describe the bitterness.  Everytime you opened the door to go outside gusts of wind would blow against your face and almost take your breath away.  This is coming from someone who gets cold when it is 40degrees out.   I of course couldn't wait to take images of the city and surrounding views.  I am in complete photograper mode in awe of the city, buildings and those crazy pigeons that sit on top.  Seriously who knew Pigeons could fly that high??   Suddenly it dawns on me that Eric and I have not taken ONE photograph of just the two of us from our trip.  I hand my camera to Eric's 14 yr old son and ask him to take a couple of shots.  I'm so worried about my hat flying off and the cold surrounding me that when Eric bends down to ask me to marry him I am in complete shock.  It is one of those outer body moments in life.  I love love surprises so it couldn't have been more perfect.  I love that it was all captured on camera, I love that all 4 kids were there to be a part of our excitement and the funniest part about it was that no one around us paid attention or had any idea what just took place.  Afterwards we went back inside to warm up and share our news with the three girls and to celebrate the fact that we were moving forward as a family.  I truly feel so blessed.
